CLAIMS HANDLER (Rotterdam)
We are looking for an ambitious claims handler to further strengthen our P&I claims team in Rotterdam. Within a team of dedicated claim handlers you handle all type P&I and FD&D claims. You maintain worldwide contact with clients and service providers (such as surveyors, lawyers and correspondents). You appoint external experts such as surveyors, lawyers and correspondents and you manage their performance. You manage and undertake legal proceedings including arbitrations.
You will be trained on the job on basis of “learning by doing”. After having gained experience you will be fully responsible for the claim result on the claim files you handle. In the handling of your claim file you make as much as possible use of your own knowledge and you do not hesitate to collect and share information with colleagues. You keep the right balance between high client satisfaction and claim result. You will occasionally be traveling.
You have a legal background (preferable specializing in maritime law) or shipping background with relevant work experience. You are fluent in English and have good communication skills.
